{"id":599,"date":"2023-09-11T15:37:42","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T15:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.hanken.fi\/research-funding-blog\/?p=599"},"modified":"2023-09-13T09:59:11","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T09:59:11","slug":"research-ethics-and-integrity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.hanken.fi\/research-funding-blog\/2023\/09\/11\/research-ethics-and-integrity\/","title":{"rendered":"Research ethics and Integrity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Finnish National Board of Research Integrity, TENK, have updated their <a href=\"https:\/\/tenk.fi\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-05\/RI_Guidelines_2023.pdf\">guidelines.<\/a> In these 2023 guidelines, \u2018The Finnish code of conduct for research integrity and procedures for handling alleged violations of research integrity in Finland,\u2019 a great deal of emphasis is directed at promoting good research practices and a responsible research culture.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The most significant reforms in the RI Guidelines refer to research integrity violations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The duration of the RI process and the deadlines for requesting a statement from TENK have been shortened<\/li>\n<li>The description of the role of the research integrity advisers has been added<\/li>\n<li>The categorisation of RI violations has been aligned with international practice<\/li>\n<li>To clarify the categorisation of the RI violations, a description of the assessment of the severity of the offence has been added<\/li>\n<li>The principle of the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity to protect those involved in investigations has been noted<\/li>\n<li>The requirement to declare significant conflicts of interest has been added<\/li>\n<li>The handling of alleged RI violations at B.A. and M.A. level degrees is assigned to the respective institutions of higher education<\/li>\n<li>The term Responsible conduct of research has been replaced by Research integrity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hanken has committed itself to follow these guidelines together with those of ALLEA, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/allea.org\/code-of-conduct\/\">The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity<\/a>&#8216;.
