ORCID, which stands for\u202fOpen Researcher and Contributor ID<\/a>, is a free, unique persistent identifier (PID) that you can use throughout your research and publishing life cycles. ORCID solves name ambiguity and flexibility problems. It allows you to distinguish yourself from other researchers, and keeps your information regardless of changes in your name or affiliated organization. Furthermore, ORCID enables all of your research outputs to be automatically linked to each other. You can maintain all your key information and contributions in one place and don\u2019t need to enter the same personal and publication data into different systems repeatedly.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u202fIt is useful to give your ORCID in funding applications, submitted manuscripts, and CVs. Some publishers and funders require your ORCID.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ORCID also plays an important role in creating your researcher profile in the Finnish national research information hub (research.fi<\/a>). Only with an ORCID can you sign in and have your profile in\u202fresearch.fi<\/a>\u202fcreated. With your consent, your information will be automatically imported to\u202fresearch.fi<\/a>\u202ffrom your preferred sources \u2013 ORCID and\/or Haris \u2013 from next spring.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u202fHanken is a member of\u202fthe Finnish ORCID Consortium<\/a>. It is strongly recommended that you connect your ORCID to your profile in Haris. Click \u201cEdit profile\u201d and then \u201cCreate or Connect your ORCID ID.\u201d You can authorize the export of content (e.g., research outputs) from Haris to your ORCID account, thus keeping both profiles up to date. See the instructions in Haris LibGuide\u202fhere<\/a>.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do not have an ORCID, you will be directed from Haris to the ORCID site where you can generate an ID. Alternatively, you can apply for your ORCID at\u202forcid.org<\/a>, and then add it to Haris.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n
