The Finnish Government has increased research and development funding, with a portion of it channeled through Business Finland to research-performing organizations. The Co-Research funding call, open from August 6 to November 29, 2024, is designed for research organizations aiming to boost business and exports for SMEs. There are no restrictions on research topics.

For a project to receive Co-Research funding, it must include at least three companies in its steering group. Company commitment is assessed by the number of companies involved and their financial contribution to the project, which should be at least 10%. While this contribution is not mandatory, it influences the proposal evaluation. The project must include a work package dedicated to disseminating and utilizing research results.

Business Finland will fund 60% of the project costs for research-performing organisations, which can increase to 70% if the project involves intensive international collaboration. Funding decisions will be announced in the first quarter of 2025.

If you wish to present your project idea to Business Finland and need comments from their side, please be in contact with Kenneth Nyholm (kenneth.nyholm@businessfinland.fi).
