Hanken is part owner of Merinova that was founded in 1989 and is mainly owned (70%) by the energy technology and cleantech companies and public actors (30%) in the Vaasa region. By being an important and neutral actor, its mission is to make the Vaasa Energy Cluster more successful.

The European Affairs manager position in Merinova was created in 2014, with the aim to form a new and effective approach in attracting EU funding to the Vaasa region. Today, Merinova is involved in various EU (7 active EU-funded projects; 3 Horizon2020, 2 Erasmus+, and 2 Interreg) and nationally financed projects, programs, and services.

Merinova’s EU Affairs manager is the person to contact for the development of research projects and funding applications, especially in the energy-technology sector. The mission is to bring together all stakeholders: industries, universities, and public institutions into an active cooperation within European and international research collaborations, foremost in Horizon Europe and other network related programs.

The Merinova EU Affairs Manager is currently a three-year project by the Universities in Vaasa region; the City of Vaasa; the Region of Ostrobothnia; VASEK and Merinova. The services are FREE OF CHARGE for all working for the partner organisations.
