The Foundation for Economic Education (Liikesivistysrahasto) promotes research especially in business and economics in the field of business administration. Grants can be applied for by individuals, research and working groups, and organizations. Deadline for application is 15 August 2023.
The mission of the Foundation for Economic Education is to work with close links to business life and to build channels of scientific research, education and business economics also to serve business life in practice. Applications may be submitted between 1 June and 15 August 2023.
Who can apply?
Grants can be applied for by individuals, research and working groups, and organizations.
Most of the grants awarded annually are aimed at doctoral and post-doc studies and education. Three-year grants may be awarded from the research group applications. In addition, targeted grants are awarded for a conference trip, study visit or other study trip, conference organization or other designated purpose.
Research group application: The three-year research group grant can be applied for by groups of people led by a PI. The online application is submitted by the PI. NB! Please note that the research group funding does not cover salaries for the research team, only personal grants are awarded. The common expenses are paid to the host organization, and no percentual overhead is used. Detailed instructions can be found here.
Special funds: Depending on the field of research or the topic, the applicant may address his/her application to a special fund, or pooled funds.

Grant focus areas
The focus areas are interrelated, and their cross-cutting theme is future orientation of research and education with an emphasis on responsibility and the promotion of entrepreneurial ecosystems. The 2023 grant focus areas are:
- Data economy
- Business renewal
- Entrepreneurship, scaling and growth
- Future-sustainable environment
- Leadership competence

Funding
In the 2023 grant round, the applied grants for 12 months of full-day research work are:
- Thesis: 26 000 euros
- Postdoctoral research: 30 000 euros
Additionally, doctoral students and post doc researchers may apply for a grant for one conference or for one trip via a separate application. - Three-year research group grant: 150 000 – 300 000 euros (50 000 – 150,000 euros/ year). The application is submitted by the PI.
Grants are awarded for projects to be realized in 2024. Individuals, groups and organizations can apply for grant periods of 4 to 12 months. In specific, a research group application is for a 36 months grant period from 1 Jan, 2024 to 31 Dec, 2026. The conference trips, conferences and seminars organized and research visits covered by targeted grants can take place as early as October 1, 2023.
Application
The grant application is submitted in the electronic application system during the application period (1 June – 15 August 2023). The applicant must first sign up as a user of the system. Kindly note that the application cannot be edited after it has been submitted in the application system.
The application consists of an electronic form, as well as 1-3 (or 1-4) mandatory appendixes. The attachments must be attached to the application in the numbered order so that adequate handling of the application can be ensured.
- One-page (A4) project presentation
- Research and funding plan (maximum length of 3–5 pages; 5–8 pages in case of three-year research group)
- CV(s) (the CVs of the person in charge and group members as a single file; a community or joint project/network: the CV of the person in charge of the project)
- Depending on the application, one of the following:
– a one-page intermediate report when applying for a continuation grant in a project previously supported by the Foundation for Economic Education
– a notice of approval or an invitation by the organizer in charge for conferences and other trips if taking place already in 2023 (as of October 1)
– a work certificate or educational diploma if considered especially relevant for the project (neither Master’s nor Doctoral degree certificates are attached).
