Do you need funding for your research? In this blog post, upcoming funding opportunities during spring and summer 2023 are listed.

Hanken encourages its researchers to apply for external funding to maximise the resources available for research. A list of upcoming funding calls by Finnish and Nordic foundations is presented below. These calls have application deadlines during spring and summer 2023.

Funding opportunities

  • Otto A. Malm foundation: The foundation supports higher education, institutions or projects serving the common good, and scientific research, by granting stipends to individuals, work groups and organisations. Deadline 30 April.
  • Nasdaq Nordic Foundation: The Foundation’s mission is to promote scientific research and other initiatives related to the financial markets in Finland, Denmark and Sweden, with the goal of increasing competence and competitiveness for the financial markets within these countries. This year we are particularly interested in projects related to ESG, FinTech, EU Capital Market Union and Financial Literacy. Deadline 14 May.
  • Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation: Applications are accepted for grants for first- and second-year doctoral studies in economics. Deadline 19 May.
  • Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation: Grants for the fields of science are primarily awarded for research work. Grants can be applied for doctoral thesis work, post-doctoral research and other research. Deadline 31 May.
  • Oskar Huttunen säätiö: The Foundation offers grants to young Finns for the completion of doctoral studies and for postdoctoral research work at universities outside Finland. Deadline 15 June.
  • Marcus Wallenberg foundation: Funding for individual, larger, high-quality scientific research projects in business administration and in areas that are central from a management perspective. A single project will receive funding for 2 to 3 years with a total amount of up to 300 000€. Deadline 26 June.
  • Alfred Kordelin Foundation: The Foundation awards individual working grants for doctoral dissertation finalization, early phase postdoc researchers, and for research visits related to the above in different fields of science. Deadline 15 August.
  • Foundation for Economic Education (Liikesivistysrahasto): The Foundation promotes research especially in business and economics in the field of business administration. More information will be announced on the website in May. Deadline 15 August.
  • Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation: The primary objective of the Foundation is to promote top-level research particularly in the fields of medicine, technology and economics as well as high-level art and culture. The key focus of the Foundation’s activities is in the post-graduate research period. Continuous application.
