Yang is here! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have recently finished my master thesis about the impact of news sentiment on Bitcoin price formation.\u00a0It took me about half year to complete it.\u00a0I started by collecting news data programmatically from two news sources.\u00a0Acquiring and analysing data is my strong suit since I\u2019m proficient with several programming languages.\u00a0If you are interested in\u00a0topics which need big data\u00a0analysis, you may consider picking up some scripting languages such as\u00a0Python and R.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most difficult\npart revealed itself when I started&nbsp;situating my hypothesis into the\nexisting theoretical framework. This process&nbsp;involved&nbsp;extensive\nreading&nbsp;and&nbsp;systematically combing&nbsp;through\nprevious&nbsp;research results&nbsp;in the relevant field.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Novelty is\ncertainly desirable in researches, but&nbsp;master thesis\nalso&nbsp;expects&nbsp;students to demonstrate their knowledge&nbsp;of\ntheories, methodologies and applications they\u2019ve learned in the past years.\nSo,&nbsp;it is important to present relevant theories in a structural and\nsystematic way.&nbsp;This exercise also helps&nbsp;you sort out your\nthoughts.&nbsp;The seminar course which is designed to support thesis writing\nis very helpful, during which you get ideas from your peers and inspiring\ndiscussions.&nbsp;I happened to do the seminar course with&nbsp;students from\ncommercial law.&nbsp;It was an interesting blend and I got to see how it is\ndifferent doing qualitative analysis from quantitative analysis.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The overall thesis writing exercise was painstaking but rewarding.
